Caution: Paracord 550 is not suitable or considered safe as a mountain climbing rope. Climbing rope based on minimum breaking strength (MBS) must be 10 times the safe weight the rope can hold. So according to the MBS strength of 550 Paracord it can only hold the weight of a 55-pound person. Typical climbing rope would have a tensile strength of roughly 2,300 pounds, which means the rope can safely hold a 230-pound person.
Paracord can be braided together to increase the breaking strength. For example if you braided ten pieces of Paracord together, you would achieve a tensile strength of 5,500 pounds, which would be suitable to use as a vehicle towrope.
